This Will All Come Back Around

RD Style Sweater, Bluenotes jeans,
Coach purse and TOMS

I love to visit all kinds of markets, flea markets farmer’s markets, street markets and best of all night markets; the only market where you can find everything in one place from food to clothing to electronics to artwork, all for really low prices.  Krysta and I spent our Friday at the Richmond Night Market where spent hours browsing through all of the vendors and managed to find new sunglasses and cell phone cases.  Sadly¸ the end of summer brings the end of outdoor market season but I will be eagerly counting down the days until I can buy produce from a farmer, handmade jewelry from an artist and go from garage sale to garage sale on a Sunday morning.

Happy Happenings FNO Edition

{fashion-forward macaron at thierry}

Krysta and I celebrated our very first (as well as Vancouver’s very first) Fashion’s Night Out.  Unfortunately, we had to miss the fashion show because of our jobs but we still believe that we managed to get the whole FNO experience that the city had to offer.  Along with all the delicious cocktails at pretty much every store, the cute little passport from MAC, and the FNO limited edition pieces from H&M; here are a few more of the things that made this night even more memorable and fun than just plain old discounted shopping down Robson Street.

Stop the Rain From Falling

Forever 21 earrings and dress,
H&M belt and bracelets,
Michael Kors watch, Vintage sweater
and Coach bag.

September’s weather has been surprisingly good to us; our days are still warm enough for shorts, our nights are only slightly chilly and I can't remember the last time it rained.  For my first Fashion's Night Out, I opted for a simple mint maxi dress with an oversized cozy sweater that I could  easily throw on while hoping from store to store.

In My Place

When I first moved to Vancouver, I thought my apartment was amazing.  It was centered in the middle of downtown, it was cozy and easy to keep clean, I loved waking up to the sun light through my windows in the morning and my view was incredible.  After three years, I have now realized that downtown is noisy, my place is a little too cozy, waking up to the sun light is not pleasant when it is 5am and the unchanging view has become boring.  It is time for a (lucky and unexpected) change.  My new place truly is perfect.  It has the right amount of elegance with chandeliers in almost every room and has a hint of retro chic featuring wood panelled appliances and metallic wallpaper; when you walk through the door you feel like you have been transported back into the 1960’s.  Instead of a stuffy, bright room at sunrise, I get to wake up to the sounds of the waves hitting the beach.  The ocean is now my new view that I could never get bored of and there is enough closet space for my entire wardrobe (hopefully).  I will put up some pictures once we are all settled in and decorated but for now here are a few things that made me fall in love with the place.

Stepping into the Sun

Aldo sunglasses, H&M necklace,
Ardene bangles, Michael Kors watch,
 Bliss Boutique maxi dress, and Aldo shoes

Next to gold and mint, turquoise and coral have to be one of my most loved summer colour combinations.  Now that my skin is “tanned” (compared to other people, I still look pale) I can wear my coral maxi dress without looking too washed out.  The weather has been so gorgeous that I actually felt overdressed during the day but it was perfect for catching the sunset on the beach.

Happy Happenings

{chandeliers in my new mad men-esq apartment}

Summer seems like it is flying by.  I can’t wrap my head around the fact that it is already the middle of August.  So, I am going to squeeze Summer activities into all my spare time so that I feel, come September, that I have had my fill of the season.  Here are a few little (and one very big) things that are currently making me smile.

Catching Sparks

H&M jean jacket, Urban Outfitters dress,
Pyrrha necklace, Coach purse,
Homemade ring, Steve Madden boots

Warm summer nights are one of my top favourite things in life.  Especially when they are combined with a fabulous friend, breakfast food along with alcoholic milkshakes for dinner, followed by English Bay fireworks.

Just Call Me Vagabond

Aldo sunglasses, Forever 21 denim shirt,
American Apparel shorts, Michael Kors watch,
Marc Jacobs bag, and Aldo sandals

My denim shirt is one of my most worn pieces in my closet, it is so versatile and the perfect weight for those cloudy summer days that Vancouver seems to get far too many of.

Happy Happenings

{perfect beach benches}

I apologize for another hiatus.  That was the last one, I promise.  Sometimes it is good to just take a break from life, plus I didn’t have my camera for about a month so that made blogging slightly difficult.  I took a well deserved mini vacation visiting my family, lounging at the beach and spending time with old friends.  Now I feel rejuvenated and ready to start my new internship at the Fashion Exchange tomorrow, I have never been this excited about a job!  Here are a few things that are making me happy at the moment.

Switching Interests

I am not sure if anyone else is feeling the same way as me, but I have lost interest in Pinterest.  It may be the fact that I have been far too busy to even open my computer (hence why I haven’t posted in awhile).  But I think the main reason is because I have recently discovered Instagram! I know it has been around for quite some time, but for us Android users, it has only been a couple of months.  The creative, one of a kind photos that people post draws my attention far more than searching through dozens of repined pictures of internet memes, 10 minute exercise routines and “Keep Calm” posters.

Art World Expo

{beautiful pieces by Jenny V Designs}

I was given the exciting opportunity, (thanks to my new job that has been so good to me so far!) to attend the Art World Expo at Telus Science World.  A few weeks back, my boyfriend and I filled our brains with fun scientific facts, competed in wheelchair races and built castles out of Lego while at Science World, but Friday night was a completely different experience.  The place was jam packed with over 80 artists showing and selling their brilliant and unique designs, and if that isn’t enough for you there was a fashion show (put on by my wonderful work!), a body painting competition and a live performance from Bif Naked.  I had a great time connecting and networking with all the wonderful people!  Here are a few of my favourite pieces from the night.
